The Peace Outreach Program, a nationally recognized arts education initiative, fulfills a critical part of The Peace Center’s overall mission. Each year, the program serves nearly 55,000 students, teachers and community members from across Upstate South Carolina, as well as parts of Georgia and Western North Carolina through its youth performance series, community outreach events and professional development programs for educators.
The largest single component of the Peace Outreach Program is the annual performance series for public, private and home-school groups. These curriculum-based programs help students experience literature, history, and science through the performing arts, giving them a whole new way to think about what they’re learning in school. For every show, the Education department creates a study guide with pre and post show activities, lesson plans and information about the performance.
To make a reservation for our Youth Performance Series: School and private groups will download and submit a Ticket Order Form to place their group reservation. Individuals wishing to bring their children to POP Shows should contact the Box Office directly to order tickets at 864.467.3000. All performances are general seating and open to the public, ages three and over. Please review our POP Series Reservation Guidelines before planning your trip to the Peace Center.
Educational materials such as study guides and video clips can be found on each performance page listed below. Additionally, the Peace Center is happy to assist in any way to deepen students’ experiences with a performance. Opportunities include talks before or after performances, Peace Center tours or possible artist visits to your classroom. For additional information about these opportunities or our Youth Performance Series in general, please contact Staci Koonce.
