Each summer, the Peace Outreach Program offers graduate recertification courses designed to introduce classroom teachers to innovative teaching strategies where the arts bring curriculum standards to life. As a standards-based instructional strategy, arts integration helps students to make meaningful connections to concepts and content in every subject, in any classroom. This technique also provides opportunities for differentiated instruction, caters to multiple intelligences, appeals to divergent learning styles, engages higher order thinking skills and allows for active, ongoing assessment of student learning.
Planning for the Peace Center’s 2012 Summer Teacher Institutes is underway. We will hold two Institutes in June 2012. The first will be held, June 11-15, 2012, and the second Institute will occur June 18-22, 2012. For updates or to get on our mailing list, please contact Staci Koonce.
