Shemekia Copeland began singing at an early age. The Village Voice called her "nothing short of uncanny," while the Boston Globe proclaimed that "she roars with a sizzling hot intensity."
In a span of less than two decades, Shemekia has evolved from teenage upstart to one of the most prominent voices in the blues. She's currently the most feted women in the blues world and was crowned and declared "Queen of the Blues" at the Chicago Blues Festival in 2011. She has played all of the major festivals and concert dates and gave a memorable performance at the White House
In 2013, she received her second Grammy Award nomination for the album 33 1/2.
