Arts Discovery Workshops

The Peace Center Arts Discovery Workshops introduce middle and high school students to unique forms of performance art. Students attend a weekly workshop taught by professional artists that will culminate in a showcase for family and friends on the final day. 

Upcoming Workshops

Motivational Drumming

Over three Saturdays, students will learn the fundamentals of drumming, from a percussionist’s role in music to the proper set-up, equipment, and patterns for various genres of music. Incorporating each student’s preferred musical style, the workshop focuses on embracing individual gifts, learning new skills, and what it means to be a drummer.

WHO Middle and High School Students (ages 13-18) 

WHEN Workshops take place on Saturdays from 11am to 2pm (Nov. 12, 19 & Dec. 3)

WHERE Gunter Theatre on the Peace Center’s campus.

COST There is a $50 enrollment fee, which includes workshop materials, snacks, and lunch.

Instructor: Big Tez Sherard has dedicated almost 30 years to providing high-quality music to the Upstate. He’s toured with Edwin McCain, performed with several regional bands, including The Jamie Wright Band, and managed prominent groups in the area. Sheard has a long legacy of inspiring younger generations through drum instruction.
