Poetic Conversation - Pictures and Words: Motionpoems Highlights Black Poetry

Gunter Theatre

After animator/producer Angella Kassube first animated one of Todd Boss's poems in 2008, the duo started connecting other poets and video artists. A new hybrid form was born! Motionpoems, the world’s only poetry film company, now creates a season of 12-15 films annually.

Join us this Black History Month for a FREE Motionpoems film screening featuring Glenis Redmond’s poem “The Tao of the Black Plastic Comb” – which was produced in partnership with Cave Canem and highlights African American poetry. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Motionpoems’ co-founder Todd Boss, film producer Irving Hillman, and Peace Center Poet-in-Residence Glenis Redmond.
