SUMMARY:Song Sessions: Maia Sharp with Dean Fields and Mindy Smith
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Song Sessions, your singer-songwriter concert series in The Mockingbird. Led by Nashville musician and Greenville fan favorite Maia Sharp, these intimate sessions of stories and songs feature a rotating lineup of guest songwriters each month. This is the place to be for anyone who deeply connects with music and enjoys tales about the musician's life. Maia Sharp is an acclaimed songwriter whose work has been recorded by artists including Bonnie Raitt, The Chicks, Cher, and Trisha Yearwood. She has released nine solo albums, collaborated with Art Garfunkel and Buddy Mondlock, and performs with her duo Roscoe & Etta. An adjunct professor at NYU and longtime collaborator with Songwriting With: Soldiers, her latest album Tomboy was released in September 2025. Richmond, VA native Dean Fields got his early musical influences from his father and uncle, who played Jim Croce and John Prine songs in the living room. Those evening jam sessions inspired him to write and record six albums and tour the country playing over 1,000 shows. Dean’s songs have been recorded by Lori McKenna, covered by Billy Currington, produced by Garth Brooks, #1 on Texas radio, and licensed by Disney, Paramount, Bayer, CVS, and more. Mindy Smith is a Long Island-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter whose unmistakable voice and emotionally direct songwriting have made her one of Americana music’s most beloved artists. With a clear and honest passion for Americana, folk, pop, jazz, rock, blues, and roots music, Smith has built a career defined by songs that are intimate, timeless, and deeply vulnerable. Want to learn songwriting with Maia and her friends? You can in our Songwriting Workshops.
