Duke Ellington: Suite from “The River”
Duke Ellington wrote this suite in 1970 for the American Ballet Theatre, inspired by the great composers of water music like Handel, Debussy, and Benjamin Britten. Like our own Reedy River, the piece ebbs, gurgles, and flows. The Greenville Symphony shares this stunning symphonic jazz work in celebration of the beautiful natural environment that makes the Upstate such an extraordinary place to live.
