Event Details
In a once-in-a-lifetime performance, a Varna International Orchestra will offer a magnificent concert highlighting the “Violins of Hope”. Local musicians will play violins that survived the Holocaust, now restored in Israel by father-son violin makers, Amnon and Avshi Weinstein.
The program will include compositions by Jewish composers: Bloch, Copland, Gershwin, Mendelssohn, Saint Saëns, and Wieniawski. Compositions by the award-winning Bulgarian composer G. Andreev, who composed Varna International’s "A Melancholy Beauty”, will be a feature with Andreev being the soloist performing on a traditional Bulgarian folk instrument.
Bulgaria’s colorful world-renowned "Philip Kutev" National Female Folklore Ensemble is sure to delight audiences performing in their special harmonies and authentic colorful costumes.
Conductor: Dr. Donald Portnoy.
