Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, during rehearsals for "Jesus Christ Superstar" in Sydney, Australia. Their shared love for The Beatles and singing forged a fast friendship. Performing in local venues after shows, they quickly built a reputation for their harmonies and original songs. Their big break came when CBS Records recognized their unique style, leading to the release of their debut single which topped the charts, marking the birth of Air Supply.
Air Supply gained fame opening for Rod Stewart and soon caught the attention of Clive Davis of Arista Records in New York. Their hit single "Lost in Love" became the fastest selling single globally in 1980. Follow-up singles like "All Out of Love" solidified their place in the music industry, with a string of top-five hits and millions of albums sold, equalling The Beatles' record for consecutive top-five singles.
Known for Russell Hitchcock's soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell's masterful songwriting, Air Supply's live shows captivated audiences worldwide. They were pioneers in touring previously inaccessible countries, and hits like "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" cemented their status. Their songs have achieved millions of radio plays, and their performances for royalty and in large-scale international events have been career highlights.
Air Supply continued their success into the 2000s with new albums and a devoted production company. Their 2010 album "Mumbo Jumbo" received critical acclaim, showcasing their enduring talent. Celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2015, Air Supply remains a beloved act, consistently delighting audiences with their timeless music.
