5 Questions with SNC's Randy Stine

Spotlight

1. If you could have any one super power, what would it be?

It would be between the power of instant invisibility, or the ability to fly, but I think being able to fly would be much more fun, especially if I could bring someone along for the ride with me.

2. What would you use your three wishes on?

My first wish, selfishly, would likely be for the ongoing health, safety, and financial security of my family and friends.  My second wish would be for an end to poverty, hunger, and war, worldwide.  My third wish would be for three more wishes.

3. If you weren’t a musician, what do you think you’d be doing?

If I wasn't in music, I hope I would still be following my dreams of being in music or working in television or movie production.  I hope I wouldn't be working in a field that I didn't find fulfilling.  I previously was working in IT sales for years, as it paid well but I never enjoyed the work.

4. What is your must-have travel item when you’re on tour?

I think everyone working as a touring musician would likely choose the same thing; their smartphone.  My iPhone is how I stay connected to all my family and friends, as well as our fans through social media, and it's my source for music, news, and entertainment.  I can't imagine the old model of hopping off the tour bus at midnight at some truck stop, and waiting in line to use the single pay-phone to make a call to my lovely wife.  Being away from home for weeks or months is still the hardest thing about being on tour, but knowing I have an always available connection to my family and friends in my pocket makes it much more tolerable.

5. What do you want Greenville to know about you?

I want Greenville to know that we are excited to play the Peace Center and that we want you to come out and enjoy the show!  We work hard to put on a show that is family-friendly and fun for all ages.  We love meeting everyone who attends our shows, so we always come out to the lobby after the show to meet anyone who wants to say hello.

See him live when Straight No Chaser performs on November 14.
